MONEYDIE FARM
Moneydie, a 440 acre mixed arable farm with 100 breeding ewes is farmed by the Strang family. Norman and Graeme are full time and during the busy spring and autumn seasons have back up from Barry. Trish, Norman’s wife, is a Blue Badge tourist guide and Graeme’s partner, Arlene, a community nurse.
Malting barley, the main crop, is sold to make whisky and beer, wheat is used in the distilling process and oats for porridge oats.
The sheep flock consists mainly of Suffolk crosses and are outside all year except for a short period during the lambing season in March. Cassie the collie is assisted by son and beginner, Spud. Daughter Patch prefers life as a ‘house’ dog ie didn’t quite make it as a sheepdog!
